Project Update, and other stuff too....

Today was nice and sunny, and oh, what a surprise, I ended up in the basement of Elec Eng building a Beowulf cluster.

I now have a cluster on which to run my code. I'm not brilliantly hopefully of anything special results-wise, I don't think that the process I'm trying to parallelise, will do so well enough, but oh well. I now have 4 boxes sat in my lab plugged into the network waiting for me to run some code on them. I need to figure out how to turn a number of services off that my predecessor left on, (like sendmail !) which means I need to poke around and find out how Slackware manages its rc.d folder.

When I got home today Matt informed me that the oven had "died". I noticed that the clock was still going, then noticed that the timer had been set at some point and had now left the oven and topoven switched off. erindellr you're going to have to spend bit of time teaching Matt how to use some of the more advanced features of kitchen appliances :)

Yesterday I went for walk with zaniyah which was very nice, we then watched the Shoreshank Redemption. I think I can honestly say I didn't see the ending coming which makes a nice refreshing change :)

My Mum's birthday present finally arrived on Saturday, it was 3 days late, but at least she didn't seem to mind, Amazon said that they'd dispatched it on the 22nd, how the blazes did it arrive so late? Ho hum, time to stop

You are compassionate and independent. You're the
kind of tree who wants to help other trees find
themselves in a crazy world you know all too
well. You love the gentler side of nature and
like things simple and elegant. A night owl,
you like things peaceful all the time and are
often vexed when others invade your solitude.
You love the water as much as the land, feeling
at home in both. Often shy, you always want to
do things right, and crave attention every now
and then. You fear that what you love most may
one day turn on you, but it doesn't stop you
from getting close to others. You are a good
listener and other trees often come to you for
advice or someone to talk to. You admire others
who freely share themselves. When you leave the
world, you want others to remember your example
and follow it.
