Silly

Small ?

Just heard on the online radio station I've been listening to....

"Brodcasting with a small 100 thousand watt transmitter"

To broadcast most of the way (unoficcially) to Wales, URB was using a 40 Watt transmitter...

Comments

1) I couldn't recieve it in the town centre ;)
2) Inverse square law
1) Strange, people were listening to it in the Saisburys cr park not far from yours, and the uys that set it up manaed to listen from somewhere in Wales on their car radio...

2) That still makes it 50 times bigger
1) The car reciver has an outdoor ariel and probably a more sensitive reciever.

2) The beeb have some 250KW ones and C5 seems to have a few 1000KW transmitters, and very few people seem to get C5.
1) And more to the point is probabl usng a phased locked loop which works a lot better than most radios.

2) The beeb have a handful of large ones. As for C5 that's further up the frequency spectrum, and carries less well. So you need more power any way, this was FM radio.
