I think Homer has a crush on me....

Homer, URBs fileserver seems to like throwing a wobbly each time I leave, or intend to leave Bath for extended periods of time.... I think he has a crush on me.

This time the main data drive appears to have died a somewhat spectacular death. I think heads may have crashed.

We're going to spoil him with new bigger drives, raided. Hopefully this will passify the spirits within him...

Anyone remember the appropriate sacrafice for new HDDs BTW?

I don't know anything about an appropriate sacrifice, but there are apparently some things you can do to keep it running well:

The scary thing is that the original writer of the newWitch article was completely serious about it all.
Hmmm... I've never done most of that stuff, but all my computers do get names, and (being networked Unix boxes) they do indeed require them in order to work well. And I did once exorcise a badly-behaved Windows 98 machine from inside the safety of a pentagram made of magnetic tape, although I wasn't exactly being entirely serious about it.
