Boats

This is my stop along the way. Don't really know how long I'll stay.

Left Oxford this morning and got to Osney Lock just as the lock keeper was turning up for the day. The morning was about 50% sun 50% cloud. When the sun was out it was wonderfully warm, and despite a couple of attempts to rain it didn't start to rain until after I'd stopped for lunch. I stopped for lunch in Bablock Hythe only to discover that they couldn't do my first choice because the oven had just died. So I had barbeque ribs instead. As I was tucking in, the heavens opened, so I had a couple of pints before heading back to the boat. In the pub I ended up chatting with a few cruiser owners, turns out they generally dislike narrow boats because we're slow, and some of us come onto the Thames expecting to be able to bounce off boats. Steel boats will bounce over each other, personally I avoid bouncing off boats, especially fibre glass cruisers, because a steel boat with enough momentum will go straight through a fibre glass cruiser. But will still have a relatively pleasant chat over a pint or two.

When I got back to the boat I returned a missed call from zaniyah, apparently they're going to need craning out, so it's going to be at least the end of next week before they're on the move again, so I'm on my own for the next week, but on the Thames that's not too bad since the locks are generally manned. However, I may be heading back to Bath in convoy, which would be a lot less like hard work.
