Silly

What on earth is going on with the IT market at the minute, I seem to be getting a rapidly increasing number of recruiters contacting me from across the globe. I had one French company phone me yesterday. I've had a number of US recruiters contact me, and a batch of UK ones who I'm sure I told I was employed almost 2 years ago! The latest US ones made me laugh though... http://www.defensetalent.com/tm_jobview.asp?jobid=26832 "Patriot SMP Systems Technician - Field Engineer II"

The world is full of recruiters :0)

Hi there Mark, great site.

I think the reasons that you are contacted more frequently by recruiters are:

1. Increasingly, the demand for qualified IT staff far exceeds the supply.
2. Our UK education system encourages people to graduate with non-degrees in things like Film Studies, Media etc and doesn't push/glamourise the sciences, esp Computer Science, Electronics, Maths, Physics etc.
3. More recruiters (esp in US) are 'google hacking' in order to generate candidates, using the operators 'CV or Vitae' and a bunch of buzzwords. To find you I used ('Webmaster' and 'XML' and 'Perl' and 'CSS' and 'CV or Vitae'). The best candidates are often those with their own online 'Personal Brand' rather than the dross that online job boards often produce.

It's also a complement :-)

Take it easy, and keep your CV online!
